Khor Virap & Noravank

⏱ 10 h 👥 up to 8 people 40 000 AMD / person

Khor Virap is one of the most photographed places in Armenia — and for good reason. From the walls of this ancient monastery, biblical Mount Ararat seems close enough to touch. This is where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for thirteen years before becoming the Catholicos who Christianized Armenia in 301 AD.

Then we drive south through the Vayots Dzor region to Noravank — a 13th-century monastery set against terracotta cliffs. The two-story church with its narrow exterior staircase is a masterpiece of Armenian medieval architecture.

On the way back, we stop in Areni — the village where the world's oldest known winery (over 6,000 years old) was discovered. Tasting at a family-run wine cellar included.
